چکیده
Thyroid cancer is usually diagnosed by ultrasound imaging and fine-needle aspiration biopsy. However, diagnosis of follicular thyroid carcinomas (FTC) difficult because FTC lacks nuclear atypia a consensus on histological interpretation. Diffuse optical tomography (DOT) offers the potential to diagnose it can measure tumor hypoxia, while image reconstruction still challenging mainly due complex anatomical features neck. In this study, we attempted solve issue creating finite element model human neck excluding trachea (a void region). By absorption coefficients at three wavelengths, 3D tissue oxygen saturation maps are obtained for first time DOT.

Image correction algorithm for functional three-dimensional diffuse optical tomography brain imaging.
We outline a computationally efficient image correction algorithm, which we have applied to diffuse optical tomography (DOT) image time series derived from a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based brain model. Results show that the algorithm increases spatial resolution, decreases spatial bias, and only modestly reduces temporal accuracy for noise levels typically seen in experiment, and produc...
متن کاملThree-dimensional shape-based imaging of absorption perturbation for diffuse optical tomography.
We present a shape-based approach to three-dimensional image reconstruction from diffuse optical data. Our approach differs from others in the literature in that we jointly reconstruct object and background characterization and localization simultaneously, rather than sequentially process for optical properties and postprocess for edges. The key to the efficiency and robustness of our algorithm...

A novel scheme for implementing spectral constraints into a three-dimensional (3-D) image reconstruction model is presented. This approach, based on selecting measurements relating to spatial areas of maximum heterogeneity, makes spectral imaging computationally efficient and feasible in 3-D. ©2006 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (170.6960) Tomography 1.0 Introduction Optical imaging has...
متن کاملThree-dimensional molecular imaging with photothermal optical coherence tomography.
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a three-dimensional optical imaging technique that has been successfully implemented in ophthalmology for imaging the human retina, and in studying animal models of disease. OCT can nondestructively visualize structural features in tissue at cellular-level resolution, and can exploit contrast agents to achieve molecular contrast. Photothermal OCT relies on ...
متن کاملThree-dimensional surface reconstruction within noncontact diffuse optical tomography using structured light.
A main field in biomedical optics research is diffuse optical tomography, where intensity variations of the transmitted light traversing through tissue are detected. Mathematical models and reconstruction algorithms based on finite element methods and Monte Carlo simulations describe the light transport inside the tissue and determine differences in absorption and scattering coefficients. Preci...
